Faithfully Trusting: El Emunah

Writer's picture: Esther HadassahEsther Hadassah

Welcome back Beloved,

During different seasons in our lives, Abba teaches us different lessons. But, I think, His Biggest Goal is to strengthen our faith through these circumstances. He takes us on this journey of trusting Him wholeheartedly even when you don’t know the outcome.

I recently watched a video and in the video the woman shares how praying these words has shifted her focus:

‘ABBA, I don’t know. I want to know but I don’t need to know.’

Immediately, I was touched by these words because it is exactly what Abba is busy teaching me, faithful trust even when in my flesh I just want to know where this path is going and why Abba is allowing me to be part of something so big…

Every time I sit and think about the situation, the Ruach Ha'Kodesh (Holy Spirit) quietly whispers to me - faithfully trust. It sounds so simple, yet, I think in many situations we fail. How often when calamity comes even though you pray about it, you try to find a fleshly solution? Or just act out of the impulse of your flesh- well recently I discovered how I almost do it every single time…

Beloved, as you are reading this, I pray that you will run into the arms of our loving Father even when you feel defeated and even when you don’t know where you are going - Be assured, He knows!

Let’s look at this command, faithfully trust:

  • The root word of faithfully is faith. In a previous blog about fear, we looked at how if we fear we lack faith. Faith in Hebrew is = Emunah. The word Emunah is first used in the Torah in the story of Abraham. Emunah can be translated as faith and believe. When we look at what Abba gave - faithfully… It is a continuing of faith, something that is build day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute, in the moments when you feel defeated.

  • The Hebrew word for trust is = Bittachon. It comes from the root word meaning - to lean on, feel safe, or be confident. The word Bittachon can be found in scripture in the life of Abraham. We all know the journey of faith Sarah and Abraham had to endure for several years holding fast to Abba’s promise of a child.

Genesis 15:6 TLV

“Then he believed in Adonai and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.”

Just imagine the faithful trust- having faith and trusting (emunah and bittachon), Abraham and Sarah had to have for 25 years before having Isaac. It was a process of continual faith in trusting what Abba said, and sometimes their flesh failed them for example when Sarah gave Abraham, Hagar, to sleep with. I look at this story of how Abba remained faithful to His promise but we struggle to remain faithful in purely trusting Him!!

Hebrews 11: 8-9

“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place he was to receive as an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he migrated to the land of promise as if it were foreign, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob—fellow heirs of the same promise.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in יהוה with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. God's name is trustworthy.”

Psalm 20:7

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of יהוה our Elohim.”

May we encourage one another on this journey of faithfully trusting, but may we never lose sight of the One who is faithful and able.

EL EMUNAH – The Faithful Elohim!!! The One who NEVER Fails (Deut 7:9).

Shalom
