Dearest Eves
What a privilege it has been writing about the women in Abba’s Kingdom. Beres̱hith is rich with women who played their part in the Kingdom story – no where else in the Bible do we encounter so many female characters. What a blessing it is to know that Abba had a purpose for each of them then and Abba has a purpose for each of us now.
The blueprint left behind by Le’ah is next on our journey. It is a somewhat odd story. The first description of Le’ah was that she had “weak eyes” Beres̱hith (Genesis) 29:17 [The Scriptures Translation] and immediately she was contrasted against her sister Raḥĕl, who was “lovely of form and beautiful of appearance.” Beres̱hith (Genesis) 29:17. How easy is it not in our world that we look at outward appearances rather than inward values? .” Raḥĕl caught Ya‛aqoḇ’s eye, Le’ah captured the heart of Abba. And so by His divine purpose for her, He raised her far above her sister within the Kingdom.
Le’ah’s story begins with rejection. She was given to Ya‛aqoḇ by deception - her father Laḇan tricked him into marrying her before Raḥĕl. To Ya‛aqoḇ, she was unwanted, a substitute. But to Abba, she was seen, heard, and chosen. “And YHWH saw that Le’ah was unloved, and He opened her womb, but Raḥĕl was barren.” – Beres̱hith (Genesis) 29:31
Often times we as women feel unwanted, whether it be in our own families, at work or in various social circumstances. Many times, we are substitutes – a step mother, a step sister, a substitute teacher, a temporary worker or someone just invited along to a social gathering in order to fill a seat. It is hard when we see things for what it is (through the physical world’s perspective), we need to look at things through a Godly Perspective. You, fellow Eve, are not unwanted or a substitute! You are just where Abba has placed you for the purpose He has for you in His Kingdom. Always remember where man sees less, Abba Father sees purpose!
In Le’ah’s story she became the womb that birthed nations. Her Godly purpose! She bore six sons: Re’uḇĕn, Shim‛on, Lĕwi, Yehuḏah, Yissasḵar, and Zeḇulun. From her came the priesthood (through Lĕwi) and the kingship (through Yehuḏah). Her lineage birthed Mosheh, Aharon, Dawiḏ the sovereign (David), and ultimately, Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah). Le’ah’s blueprint carried the whole legacy of the Kingdom of Abba right down to Yeshua.
In today’s times many Eves feel second best, overshadowed, or unloved. Yet like Le’ah, you are chosen for something eternal. You carry ministries, birth movements, and raise spiritual legacies. Le’ah’s story reminds us of the promise in Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 29:11 “‘For I know the plans I am planning for you,’ declares YHWH, ‘plans of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and an expectancy.’”
Many times, we as Eves feel overlooked and unworthy when comparisons are struck between ourselves. Yet we forget that each of us carries a unique and divine purpose in the Kingdom of Abba. Pray, and wait on Abba to reveal what that purpose is—and stop living for the validation of man. Le’ah’s story calls us back to He who sees, and reminds us that sometimes, the one the world overlooks is the one Abba trusts with a legacy.
Shalom to you all!
