Matthew 14:25-31 TLV
25 Now in the fourth watch of the night, Yeshua came to them, walking on the sea. 26 But when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It’s a ghost!” And they cried out with fear. 27 But immediately, Yeshua spoke to them, saying, “Take courage! I am. Don’t be afraid.” 28 Answering, Peter said to Him, “Master, if it’s You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water to go to Yeshua. 30 But seeing the wind, he became terrified. And beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Master, save me!” 31 Immediately Yeshua reached out His hand and grabbed him. And He said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
This is a common story of our Savior Yeshua that became flesh and dwelled among us - He walked on water! Notice as soon as Peter took his eyes of Yeshua, his focus shifted to the waves, fear slipped in and he began sinking because the fear became greater than his faith and belief, it consumed both his mind and spirit. This is often the way we live. We believe in Abba Father and His truth, His miracles and what He does but as soon as waves come, we focus on the waves instead of focusing on the eyes of our precious Groom. We lose focus of His face, and start sinking. We dwell in our fear, emotion and pain instead of the fullness of our King.
The Bible warns us numerous times about fear. Fear only YHVH your Elohim. Yet we fall into the same trap again and again. Oh, but how wonderful is our Father. He comes and comforts us once again just as He comforted Peter, rescuing Him. He is the same God, if He could do it for them, He will for us too.
Fear is a way the enemy captivates us so easily because it is so common. Fear starts with that thought of what if. What if I drown, what if I fail the exam, what if, what if…
At the beginning of the year, I was fasting and preparing in body, soul and spirit for Abba YHVH’s festivals and as I was cleansing with Yeshua, He pressed on my heart - fear. I couldn’t understand why because I never thought I struggled with fear. As I was dwelling in His presence, He showed me the exact 3 things I am fearing. I was amazed at how often I lied to myself about fear instead of repenting and changing. Abba desires for us to have life and life in abundance, not limited by satan.
“My child, fear starts in your thoughts. It starts with thoughts of the unknown. You often fear because you don’t have full faith in My character. Who I AM. Be rooted in Me and be renewed by the renewing of your mind. Be transformed into My character. Surrender all your fears to Me. Focus on ME and shine with My glory. When your eyes are fully locked with Me you will know My character and your focus will be on My greatness not your fear.”
Then Abba took me to the story of Job…
Job 3:25-26 (KJV) “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, And that which I was afraid of is come unto me. I was not in safety, neither had I rested, nor was I quiet; Yet trouble came.”
Notice how that which Job feared came upon him. Even though Job was righteous and loved Abba with all his heart, fear opened a door for the enemy to enter. The enemy cannot enter if there is no space to enter. Today, I want to encourage you to close the doors of fear in your life and ask Abba to take your eyes and thoughts off that fear and turn your gaze back to Him. HE IS FAITHFUL!
Let’s pray:
Abba Father, King of the Universe. Thank you for taking the time to visit us and lead us to repentance. Thank You that Your desire for us is life and life in abundance. Abba we pray for the times we have allowed our eyes to focus on the waves and allowed fear to be a stumbling block, but thank You that you saved us just as You did with Peter. Thank You for Your character. HalleluYah! Amen!
Shalom
