The Weight of the Calling

Shalom dear child of the Most High King, I hope that this feast season was one filled with joy, peace, community and most importantly an expectation for the coming of our King the Messiah, Yeshua.

During the Feast of Trumpets, Abba reminded me of a calling He gave to me quite a while ago. I remember thinking – this could never happen, I do not have the facilities to bring this calling into action, I don’t know how or where to even begin… I shrugged it off and said; “The time isn’t right”. The time wasn’t right when I felt this nudging in my spirit – but recently, during the Feast of Tabernacles; Abba gave me an opportunity to begin working at this newfound calling. I realized that having a calling that Abba gave you requires sacrifice; so much humbling, so much time in the secret place, so much release and letting Abba do His work.

We all have a unique calling; we all have a place and space where Abba wants to use us, daily. A place where He can pour out His Spirit unto others, and release a new anointing or equip others to walk into the calling He has for them. I realized that when I hold back on the calling He gives me – it stalls other people who He wants to equip; others who needed to hear what Abba told and showed me. My dear friend, Abba uses our callings not only for ourselves but also for others. This is applicable in all fields whether your calling is to be a worshiper, a teacher, a doctor, an artisan, an engineer, a mother. Abba wants to use you to equip His people, to lead, to teach, to steward, to love.

Your calling has a weight…It requires of us to surrender completely into His arms, to say with certainty: “Hineni, Abba. Here I am, send me.” This weight can be crushing, but only when we try to carry it on our own. Our callings require of us to say, “Not my will, but Yours Abba”, “Not my way, but Yours Abba”, “It’s not me Abba, but only through You that this can happen”. As soon as we shift our focus from Abba we become self-centered, focused on what “I” can do, but your calling is not about you – it’s about Him. Our calling comes with purification – like silver is heated and melted to remove its impurities – we too need to be purified, cleansed of the “me, me me”, and filled with “Him alone”.

Pilipiyim (Philippians) 3:14 TS2009

[14] I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of Elohim in Messiah יהושע.

In Abba’s word we see many examples where his people first had to be purified before their calling came into action – they had to understand that Abba holds their lives in His hand before He released them. They had to press on towards the goal of their calling - persisting even when it's not easy, continuing on after they felt tired.

Tas`loniqim Bĕt (2 Thessalonians) 1:11-12 TS2009

To this end we always pray for you that our Elohim would count you worthy of this calling, and complete all the good pleasure of goodness, and the work of belief with power, so that the Name of our Master יהושע Messiah is esteemed in you, and you in Him, according to the favour of our Elohim and the Master יהושע Messiah.

Dear friend in Messiah, I want to encourage you, take up the calling He has given you, do what it is that He has called you to do, and let no one diminish the calling which Abba has given to you. He has a purpose for your calling; allow Him to do His perfect work in you through this calling. And always keep your eyes focused on the Prince and Perfecter of our belief, Yeshua (Hebrews 12:2).

Qorintiyim Aleph (1 Corinthians) 10:31 TS2009

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the esteem of Elohim.

Eph`siyim (Ephesians) 4:1-7 TS2009

I call upon you therefore, I the prisoner of the Master, to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called, with all humility and meekness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, being eager to guard the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace – one body and one Spirit, as you also were called in one expectation of your calling, one Master, one belief, one immersion, one Elohim and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But to each one of us favour was given according to the measure of the gift of Messiah.

May we be found worthy of the calling He has given us!

Shalom to you all,

Lisa.
