It is no secret that the Health and Wellness Industry can be filled with lots of controversial topics. You can sit and talk to people preferring to eat only meat and their argument to why this is the best way of living. At the same time this sounds very similar to those who only eat fruit and vegetables. In my 20 years of exposure to the health and wellness industry I’ve seen trends come and go. I’ve even bought into some of them, only to learn later that it was not what Abba wanted or beneficial to me.

“My people perish for a lack of understanding….” (Hosea 4:6) is a scripture that plays out not just in the spiritual, but we see this in the level of people’s understanding of what true health is as well. People just simply don’t know. This is a dangerous place to be. You can be sold on any new trend, or any new “instant miracle fix”, in most cases costing a pretty penny, if you don’t know any better. Today’s post is about uncovering some of these controversial topics and simply breaking it open so that you can start asking some real and honest questions about why you have been living and stewarding your health the way you have.

Many of our clients today want to understand what, biblically speaking, we are allowed to eat and what we should be staying away from. There are three areas that I look at when giving any health advice. Firstly what Scripture says (and having a perspective on how things worked in the ancient days), how ABBA originally created things in nature and then where the babylonian system of today wants to lead us (which is opposite to where we need to go). Understanding that the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10) by perverting truth. The enemy is not a creative being (only God and humans have creative ability), the enemy perverts God’s creation, but not in a way that is easily recognisable. This is why we need discernment of the Spirit to guide us. It is the same with food.

FOOD: Let's look at the topic of drinking wine:

Many people use the argument that Jesus turned water into wine…. And therefore, we should be drinking wine. So let's break this open:

The wine that scripture refers to is not closely related to the wine that we are exposed to today. There is a massive difference between today’s wine and the wine you would have found in biblical times. You can almost not even compare the two as it won’t be comparing “apples with apples”.Understanding firstly that in Biblical times, the grapes were organic. No “gut and hormone disrupting” pesticides and herbicides were sprayed on the vineyards. Soils were looked after and rested in the seventh year to ensure good microbial life for growing in the years to follow. Crop growing was guided by what grows naturally on the land and water resources was clean, undefiled and uncontaminated. Moon cycle planting and harvesting formed part of the process. There was no extra sugar and sulfites added to wine and the alcohol levels were definitely not as high as the % of alcohol we get in today’s wine. In many translations, we understand that “wine” actually means “fermented grape juice”. Fermented or cultured food and drinks are greatly beneficial to gut health. Red grape skins are a rich source of beneficial compounds, including resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant, and other polyphenols like quercetin, which contributes to heart health, anti-inflammatory effects and potential protection against certain diseases. No wonder it is recommended for those with heavy hearts (Proverbs 31:6-7). So when I am asked, “can I drink red wine?” my answer is, “if you can get true authentic Biblical wine, then yes absolutely”. In South Africa, most of our wines come from the Western Cape which is known to be heavily sprayed and water heavily contaminated. Today’s wine creates a “drunkenness” that we are warned against in scripture and we should rather choose to be “drunk” on the Spirit of God. I once listened to a testimony of a satanist who had found Jesus. Before he was deep within the occult and in preparations for occultic events would fast and eat clean and not touch alcohol to be most effective in their dark motives. It was very clear that if satanists understood how ineffective you become under even just a bit of alcoholic influence, how much more we as Christ followers need to make sure that our bodies and minds are pure.

Let’s look at the topic of Bread:

Bread is used in things like the last supper where Jesus even explained that He is the Bread of Life (Matthew 26:26, John 6:35). Jesus even teaches us to pray for our ‘daily bread’ (Matthew 6:11). So naturally we are led to believe that bread has to be part of our daily diet. As much as I do believe that ancient breads held that position, I don’t hold the same thoughts towards the bread of today. Firstly, there is a lot of sugar added to conventional breads, that simply feeds the wrong microbes in your gut. When you are craving bread, it's not actually you (or your body), but these microbes sending electrical signals to the brain. This is why your gut is known as your second brain. Your gut actually sends electric impulses to your brain when it wants certain foods and it is your gut microbes that are responsible for these signals. The craving you are experiencing points to the specific microbes that are in charge.

The wheat kernels that are used to make bread today have been heavily genetically modified. To explain, if you look at ancient grains, they are much smaller and only contain 14 chromosomes. By genetically modifying grains, the chromosomes are altered to up to 42 (and in some even more) chromosomes to give a bigger yield. These extra chromosomes are not recognised as “food” in our bodies and then our bodies respond to it by causing inflammation. Continuous high levels of inflammation is detrimental to our health. In addition to being genetically modified, these crops are also heavily sprayed with pesticides and herbicides. To understand the damage to your body, you have to understand what it was created for. Should any bugs sit on the plant and be exposed to the chemicals, their internal digestive systems literally explode and they die. By eating these crops, your intestines are also exposed to the same chemical with similar results and your intestinal lining is damaged. This is then where leaky gut happens, with the toxins crossing the blood-brain barrier causing hormonal, mental and nervous system conditions. (Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, Autism, Autoimmune diseases to name only a few). In mass produced conventional bread, synthetic yeast grains are added right before baking, not allowing for natural raising to happen. Although sourdough breads use a more natural method of yeast and stone grounding the wheat, the real question is, if organic ancient wheats are used.

Bread in scripture also signifies ‘Deliverance’. Reading the Lord’s Prayer, we see that we need to pray “give us today our daily deliverance”. Ironic for where we find ourselves with the quality of bread (flour) today.

Let’s look at the topic of Olive Oil:

I’m a big fan of Olive Oil. It is used in the Bible for almost everything and predominantly it was used as a cold press oil. As with our previous examples, olives were organically grown and had no artificial contaminants. In today’s life, olive oil is recommended for cooking and here I want to just give some guidance on how to go about this. Again, firstly to make sure that you buy Organic, Extra Virgin, Cold press Olive Oil. If it doesn’t say any of these on the label, I would pass it by. Olive oil is also high in polyphenols that are highly beneficial to your health, but only at cold to medium temperatures. Should you cook, or fry with it, you lose these beneficial polyphenols and then lose out on the health benefits of olive oil all together. Rather cook with coconut oil, or tallow and afterwards use the olive oil as an additional dressing. You can make salads and veggies and dress it afterwards with organic olive oil.

Let’s look at the topic of Milk:

Scripture speaks of ‘the land of Milk and Honey’ (Exodus 3:8) and now we believe that milk is good for us. Milk has always been representative of ‘feeding babies’. We even understand that new christians feed on spiritual milk, but they don’t keep feeding on milk. Eventually we mature to eat ‘meat’. This is also where we stop drinking milk as milk does not sustain you. Not spiritually and not physically. When you look at where ABBA created milk, it is for mammals to nurture and feed their babies. Milk was never meant for adult mammals. And nowhere in nature do you see adult mammals drinking other mammal species’ milk either. I understand that this thought will trigger you (as it triggered me) as everything we love is made with milk. Our butter, our yoghurt, our ice creams, even our healthy kefirs…. I know. The conditioning runs deep! But let me also highlight something about the industry to you. A jersey cow is not an all, 24/7 producing milk machine. Although you might think so. As with any other mother, in order to be able to produce milk, she has to be pregnant. So in the milk industry, they remove the calves from their mothers not even 2 weeks after birth and artificially inseminate her again to be pregnant as quickly as possible to keep producing the milk you have come to love so much. Calves are raised on formula while the mommy jersey pumps milk for the milk industry. At the same time they are fed the same genetically modified grains that we spoke of earlier that disrupts their guts the way it does with us, and you find that mommy cows inflammation levels are through the roof. So she gets antibiotics and hormone injections to keep the symptoms under control. All of these get deposited into the milk and milk products that we consume. I know some people prefer raw milk rather than pasteurized milk, but to me, I try to stay clear of it all together. I don’t want to send anyone on a guilt or shock trip, I simply want to break things open today for you to start asking some questions and ask ABBA to guide your ways knowing we have been commanded to steward and guard the earth responsibly. That includes our cows.

Let’s look at the topic of Meat:

Let's tackle pork meat first. Yes you should not eat it. If you follow the Torah, you know there are a few things listed that you should not eat the meat of and there is a good reason for it. Scientifically it has been proven that pork (as well as shellfish and raw fish) contain excessive amounts of parasites that can really be detrimental to your health. Cooking it doesn’t make it any better, so yes from a biblical point of view as well as a health science perspective, best to avoid your favourite bacon and sushi meals.

As for lamb, beef and chickens, biblical speaking we are allowed to eat these. In fact if you read Exodus 12:5, you see that even goat meat was acceptable. Eating meat came in after the fall of man and I know that some argue that we should not be eating meat at all. I believe that whether you should eat meat or not, should be a personal conviction from ABBA. And it should not be one to make your neighbour stumble on (1 Corinthians 8:13). But what I would put out there is firstly, if you are not willing to kill it, you should not eat it. We live in a culture that eats excessive amounts of meat simply because it is so readily available in convenience stores. We are far removed from the sacred slaughter that used to happen when a lamb was slaughtered for food. It was not something that just happened, and definitely not as often as today. Secondly, it is also important to understand how the meat you eat got to be on your plate. Factory farmed meats are more affordable and more readily available than organic meats. With red meats, you want to ensure that they are pasture reared (they live freely outside), grass fed, grass finished, no hormones and no antibiotics used. What happens in the trade is that livestock is grass fed, while in the last 3 - 4 months fatten up with those same gut disrupting grains we spoke of earlier and therefore not grass finished. This allows for suppliers to put a “Grass Fed” sticker on the packet, while getting a bigger yield, marbling the meat with white fat and making more money than completing the life cycle with grass only. With chickens, Free Range is simply not enough. You want to look out for pasture reared, pasture fed (not grain fed) and if they are grain fed, that it is organic grains. Also important to look out for no hormones and no antibiotics. Same rule applies for eggs. You get a lot of Free Range eggs, and this only means that the chickens were not caged. They still got fed genetically modified grains that are harmful, got injected with hormones and got antibiotics because of the gut disrupting inflammation. The eggs are therefore affected as well.

I do understand that this is a lot to consider and to absorb. As mentioned in the beginning of the post, the enemy did not come with a banner to say “hey, here I am”. No, he came to pervert ABBA’s beautiful perfect design, little by little, over centuries to where we find ourselves here today.

Next, I want to address certain conditions that we have dealt with in the past with our clients and demystify what “medical professionals” say is the truth about these conditions.

Conditions:

  • Experiencing Heartburn

  1. What *Dr. Google says - You have too much acid in your stomach and need to take antacids.

  2. What is actually happening - You have too little acid in your stomach and because of this, you have an overgrowth of bacteria that causes the little acid you have to be pushed up into your esophagus. Healthy stomach acid is at a ph 2, maybe a ph 3 and will keep these microbes in balance.

  • Experiencing Gluten Intolerance

  1. What *Dr. Google says - it is a digestive disorder where the body reacts poorly to gluten. (indirectly it is your fault)

  2. What is actually happening - Your body has a severe reaction to the toxins that are found in today’s genetically modified and sprayed wheats. It is NOT a gluten intolerance, but a toxin and poison intolerance. (directly the industry’s fault)

  • Experiencing an Incurable Disease

  1. What *Dr. Google says - When you are faced with an incurable disease (meaning you won’t ever heal from this) simply focus on managing the symptoms to maintain quality of life.

  2. What it actually is - Incurable is a medical term, and not a health fact. It is by no means a death sentence. It simply means that the medical industry can’t cure you. However, we do know this, as Jehovah Rapha is the only one that heals. No medication, no supplement, no external substance heals. Only Jesus heals and ABBA created us with healing inside of us. What we put into our bodies either support our bodies to heal or distract our bodies from healing.

May you be liberated by knowing God is for you, not against you, and that 100% Healing and 100% Health IS YOUR PORTION!

*Use to explain what you will normally hear from conventional consultations
